I feel like the boy who cries wolf. I’ve been teasing you with this so-called “study” for a while. I won’t bore you with the details but it’s been a JOURNEY. And the Lord is teaching me to just keep handing it all over. Hand over the timing. Hand over the name. Hand over the structure of it. Just keep giving it over, but don’t let go of the passion or the vision to get something into the hands of you MOMS for your TWEEN girls!
So, finally – a partner (a dream partner) came along that fully got it. They got it exactly. And they are someone I have known for so long and am MORE THAN ELATED to get to work with.
Just an example of the dream team. Here is a photo of a photo from our first in person meeting in Atlanta at Orange headquarters. In the meeting was Sherry Surratt (former CEO of Mops International now Executive Director, Parent Cue), my dear buddy Sarah Bragg, Surviving Sarah podcast and other girl/tween experts from the Orange/reThink staff). They look bored – but they are NOT – they are deep in thought about tweens. 🙂
The Treasured study (still finalizing name) will be an official Parent Cue product – a small group study for tween girls and moms to do together. The official news is that it IS happening – it’s getting published with a dream partner that I so respect and admire. It will be 100x better than originally planned because they are involved. They have video teams and writers and producers and studios! My little dream just got way cooler. I am so relieved and grateful. Thank you Lord!
The bad news: it’s not ready by Fall. I know many of you have groups of girls you are gathering right now. It will ready MAYBE by January, but for sure by March 2019. Hang in there with me – I promise it’ll be worth the wait. I am working as quickly as possible to put some super simple and quick ideas for you to use this school year. You can always look on my Instagram page for other books I recommend in the Resources section.
Remember, MOST of the battle is just gathering the girls and their moms and forming relationships. It does not matter if you go get ice cream or do a craft – it all matters. God will lead you. These girls just want TIME together in community. A few fast ideas that my girls have loved:
- Take them to an assisted living home for their craft time
- Go get yogurt together and just share about their summer and what’s coming up this year
- Bring one easy devotional from any devotional for girls (I love For Girls Like You) and color that verse (coloring sheets are easy to find online)
- Get brooms from the dollar store and go sweep your entire street or school together
As you may have heard, my precious precious friend Wynter Pitts and co-founder of Leading Girls podcast went suddenly went to be with Jesus last week. I don’t even have the words to tell you how horrific and hard this past week has been. However, I have seen God in it all and know it was her day to go home. He has been so present. I just miss her so much. Thank you for your kind words and support.
I spoke with her husband today and he has given me the blessing to continue on with the podcast. I will air the remaining three episodes Wynter and I had previously recorded (but hadn’t aired). And, I will go ahead and record the rest of the guests on our list. Wynter and I had made a list of folks we wanted to learn from – so I will proceed without her which seems surreal and so hard. So many of you have messaged how they were blessing your lives as moms and that gives me courage to finish the list and see what God says after that. As Wynter would do, I’ll pray on it. 🙂
Here was one of her last talks she did – they played it at her service. Please watch. I hope you’ll be forever impacted by her life. I sure am.
Thanks for being a sweet group of moms who is united to bring these girls together in kindness, love and faith. Thanks for being PATIENT with me as I work on this product for you. We’re in this together. Through the good and bad.
PS – I totally have the cutest “treasured” shirts, cinch bags and an ebook “What To Treasure: Loving Others For Tweens” in the works. Just trying to my act together to get them in a store for you. So many ideas. So little time.
Must go cram the summer reading books and do 100 other back-to-school errands. Then, I’m so on it.
Until next time…
